The Profit

Ecclesiastes 2:11 | Proverbs 14:23 | 2 Timothy 3:16-17

What is Profit?
Profit is what you gain after giving. Whether it’s time, money, effort, or love—you expect something in return. That’s profit. In life and in faith, we are all investing something. The question is: what are you gaining from it?

No Input, No Output!
Don’t expect to reap where you didn’t sow. You want spiritual growth? Invest in prayer. You want a strong relationship? Invest love and understanding. Galatians 6:7 reminds us: “You will reap what you sow.”

Types of Profit
Tangible: Money, wealth, material things.
Intangible: Joy, peace, faith.
Eternal: Treasures in heaven—this is the highest form of profit.

Hard Work Pays Off
Proverbs 14:23 — "In all labor there is profit."
Prayer without action is wishful thinking. Confession without effort is empty. Want results? Put in the work—spiritually and physically.

God Is in Business Too
Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49). God's business is soul-winning, obedience, and spiritual growth. Every act of obedience adds eternal value to your life.

Solomon’s Warning
He had everything—money, houses, servants—but in Ecclesiastes 2:11, he said, “It was all vanity… no profit under the sun.”
Worldly profit without eternal purpose = emptiness.

The Word Is Your Best Investment
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says Scripture is profitable for everything—teaching, correcting, guiding. If you want to profit in life, the Word must be your foundation.

Why Many Don’t Profit Spiritually
Lazy in prayer
Undisciplined with fasting
Inconsistent with the Word

No sowing, no reaping. It’s that simple.

Ask Yourself Today:
▪️ What am I truly investing in?
▪️ What kind of return am I expecting?
▪️ Will my profit end on earth or last into eternity?

Mark 8:36 — "What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?"

Prayer:
Lord, teach us to invest wisely—in your Word, in prayer, in righteousness. Help us to labor for what lasts forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
